Arts, Heritage and Culture from the Mankon Kingdom

The Museum presents cultural and artistic production of the Kingdom of Mankon of the high plateaux of Western Cameroon or the Grassland. This production, which represents an essential part of the cultural and artistic heritage of Mankon, plays a fundamental role in the cultural continuity of the society. Objects are pregnant with « meaning » but also identified characteristic forms, all bearers of memory in the treasures of the kings, notables and secret societies. The pieces are extraordinarily rich, both in their quality, the diversity of the domains they approach and by the variety of their decorative motifs, styles and themes.

The permanent exhibition, entitled “Arts, Heritage and Culture from the Mankon Kingdom”, presents some 179 objects grouped together in six thematic sections.
